My New Old Frames

I have been searching for about a week or so now for some cool, vintage/antique style frames to use as a photography prop.  I wasn't exactly having great luck...the bigger, cooler frames were more than I wanted to spend, and the frames within my budget weren't going to cut it.  I finally lucked out this week at a couple thrift stores!

Here are my awesome finds:

This is the first frame I found.  I was an empty frame, no picture/glass and it was only $1!!  (Sorry, it won't let me rotate it...)  It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, and was a little small side, but I decided for $1, I would make it work for something.

The next day I found this at another thrift store, for $3!  Another great deal.  This frame is quite a bit larger, and while it isn't the exact style I want, it will be super cute for the Rose Family Photo Shoot this weekend!  (Sorry for the bad phone picture in the glaring sun...)

Next, all I needed to do was find some great spray paint to upcycle these bad boys.  Lucky for me, Elise was near her phone and offered her always-awesome advice.  We decided on Satin Nickel for the color and I'm so glad we did!!

I am very pleased with how these frames turned out and I cannot wait to try them out this weekend!

See how easy it can be to turn some old thrift store frames from DRAB to FAB...and for under $7!?!  (O:  Just remember to wipe down the frames before spraying.  Also, don't be like me--wait until it is NOT windy outside before attempting...I'm sure I lost half a can of spray paint in this endeavor! ;-)

  1. i'm excited to see the Rose pictures. They are so stinking cute. And I had saved the previous post in my reader because I wanted to comment something on it, but now that I re-read it, I can't remember what I wanted to say. Bye friend!

  2. I'm SO excited to take them! I love their cute, sweet family! (Although, I have to admit, I should have paid closer attention to their ages before I started looking around for inspiration. I had Jude as older than he is. Time to re-inspire!) (O:

  3. Annie, you did a great job capturing the craziness of our life!! We had so much fun! We can't wait to see the pictures and I loved the frame! :-)

  4. Alisha, I had a blast with your family! I have gone through the photos and have so many great ones to edit. I am SO excited for you to see them! Thanks again for allowing me to capture some fun memories! (O:

  5. a light sanding does wonders too. You should always give anything you are going to spray paint a light sanding, it really helps the paint stick and stay.

  6. I think I can make a doily necklace happen :) I'll have to see what I have in the way of doilies and lace bits.
